I've found a portable book scanner to be a god send to my business. I'm able to take a book, scan it, and take it on the go. The cool thing that I like about these things is that I'm able to just pick and choose what I want. So, instead of taking your 2,000 page book around, you can scan Chapter 1 from one book, and Chapter 7 from another. What's not to love about this?
When you're looking for a book scanner, I highly recommend that you get one that's portable. Most will allow you to read the book right on the scanner, but the main purpose is to upload it to your computer.

Make sure it's portable -- By looking at the scanner, you should get a good idea on if it's going to be portable, or not. If you're purchasing online and you can't really hold it, just simply look at the description to get a better idea on what it's all about.
Know your features -- Many people just assume that a book has a scanner and that's it. There are a lot of features that you can choose from. For instance, some have special scanning modes, while others will allow you to convert them into a PDF.
With many scanners out there, make sure that you read into the reviews and find one that's not only going to work for you, but work with your computer as well. If you have a newer computer, you shouldn't have anything to worry about, but you can always read the specifications on the side of the box to ensure that it will work 100%.
